Everything Channel did their "2008 State of Technology: Security Survey”. Related to Data Loss Prevention, here are key points related to the survey:

1). “Despite the downturn, solution providers are optimistic about growth in the security market as technologies such as data loss prevention (DLP)….continue to catch fire”.

2). 52% project that the security market will grow at an increased rate over the next 12-18 months. 41% stated it will remain steady.

3). “Solution Providers said the fear of data loss and breaches is justifiable, putting it at the top of the list of biggest security threats currently facing customers. Channel partners named sales of DLP as their fastest growing technologies area and as their #2 most profitable technologies.

4). 31.5% stated DLP is the fastest growing and 29.6% said it was the most profitable. “So it’s no surprise that DLP is fast becoming one of the security industry’s hottest technologies.” The VARs in the survey stated data loss is the #1 security threat today and the #2 threat over the next 12 – 18 months. More than 66% of the respondents say they sell DLP products.

5). Related to top technologies selling into midsize customers:
65.% percent of VARs in the survey stated DLP as the top technology, second to perimeter security of 67.4%.

6). Related to the top security business drivers within the next 6 to 12 months: 36.8% stated Data Loss prevention.
